5 Media Organisations Slammed by Trump as ‘Enemy of American People’
On Friday, Donald Trump, U.S. President called 5 of the major media organisations of the country as “the enemy of the American people.”
In a tweet, Donald Trump stated that, “The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @ABC, @NBCNews, @CNN and @CBS) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American people!”
But, he was quick to delete the tweet and posted a different version where he omitted CBS and ABC. Also, he included the word, “SICK” at the end of the original post as per reports by Xinhua news agency.
A report on New York Times commented that, the tweet by Trump is a striking escalation towards his attacks on the news media. The tweet came one day after his solo news conference in the White House. In the conference, he criticised the media of the U.S. as “out of control” and “very fake”.
After the conference, an email survey was sent out by Trump team asking people to express about what they feel about the media.
Last month, in an interview with New York Times, Chief White House Strategist, Steve Bannon stated that the media is the “opposition party” and “the media should be embarrassed and humiliated and keep its mouth shut and just listen for a while”.
Since the time of the presidential election, fires have been frequently exchanged between Trump and the US mainstream media groups
