Bombardier Plans of Doubling its Fleet Size in India
Bombardier Inc, Canadian aircraft maker plans to double its fleet size in the country to over forty aircrafts over the next few years, stated an Executive to Reuters.
Vice President Sales of Australasia and Southeast Asia of Bombaridier, Francois Cognard stated that, the company expects the introduction of short haul flights as well as emphasis on efforts to improve the business environment which will lead to higher growth.
He also said that, aside building infrastructure, maintenance facilities and training, rules for aircraft re-possession has been tweaked by the government which is leading to more investments and making plane lessors happy.
The biggest client of Bombardier in India is SpiceJet which has twenty Q-400 78 seater aircrafts.
Speaking on what would make the company more competitive, Cognac stated that, aircraft reconfiguration is a good option which would increase the number of seats to 86.
The company is also hopeful about introducing the CSeries aircraft which can accommodate 100 to 136 passengers and also has higher fuel efficiency making it ideal for regional and domestic flights in India.
