Post 2020, British Petroleum Expects Output from the KG-D6 Block
Oil and gas major, British Petroleum (BP) based in the UK stated that production of new natural gas from the offshore KG-D6 block will start after 2020, 3 years later than the planned schedule.
During the 4th quarter earning presentation, BP stated that R-series, Satellite and D-55 discoveries will start their productions after the year 2020. BP holds thirty percent interest in KG-D6 or KG-DWN-98/3 block located in the Bay of Bengal owned by Reliance Industries Limited.
BP also said that, the discoveries are in the “design” stage presently which implies that project engineering work was in progress and construction hasn’t yet started.
In the block, RIL holds sixty percent interest and the rest ten percent is under Niko Resources of Canada. BP-RIL presently produces oil and gas from MA field while gas is produced from Dhirubhai-1 and 3 fields.
BP clearly stated that, they are anticipating that their present suite of major projects will lead to the addition of 800 mboed (million barrels of oil equivalent per day) of new production net to BP.
Satellite and R-series discoveries development work has already started.
