Supply to Power Sector by Coal India Drops by 3.6% in April-December Period
The fuel supply by Coal India to the power sector dropped to 288.2 million tonnes, to be precise 3.6% during April-December period. Official data states that, the supply to the same sector in the previous fiscal year was about 299.1 MT.
The coal supply of Coal India declined to 35.9 MT by 4.2% in December as compared to 37.5 MT of the same month during the previous fiscal. However, SCCL’s (Singareni Collieries Company) coal supply increased to 36.4 MT by 2.2% during April-December period as compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal’s 35.6 MT. Owned by Telangana, SCCL happens to be a coal mining company.
For the first 9 months of the present fiscal, the overall fossil fuel dispatch by Coal India stands at 391.7 MT compared to previous fiscal’s same period of 389.2 MT.
CIL is targeting 598 million tonnes production during 2016-2017 and the company has a target of producing one billion tonnes fossil fuel by 2020.
