N.Chandrasekaran to Step In as Tata Sons Executive Chairman
In what can be described as a surprising move by Tata Sons, the Board of Directors picked former professional executive, N. Chandrasekaran as the Executive Chairman of Tata Sons. The veteran who was also the CEO and MD of Tata Consultancy Services happens to be the only non-Parsi till now to take the charge as Executive Chairman of Tata Sons.
His elevation has come at a time when Tata Sons Group is involved in a battle with Cyrus Mistry, the ousted chairman of the group.
After his elevation, Chandrasekaran stated that he understands the roles and responsibilities that come with the post and he will put in his every effort to assist the progress of the group abiding by the values, ethics and ethos.
After starting his career as a software programmer in the year 1987, he was named the COO in the year 2007. After 2 years on October, 2009, he was appointed as the MD and CEO and he was among the youngest CEOs of the Tata Group. The growth revenue of TCS grew by twenty percent under Chandrasekaran.
Tata Sons board stated through an emailed statement that Chandrasekaran was chosen unanimously as he has shown exemplary excellence while leading TCS. Also it was stated that Chandrasekaran will serve as an inspiration to the Tata Group and help the group to realize its actual potential.
