Light at the end of the tunnel for Namma Metro
The Krishna Tunnel Boring Maching (TBM), which was tunneling between Chikpete and Kempegowda Station, had a breakthrough at 2.04 p.m. on Friday.
The TBM started its work from Chikpete on December 27, 2015 and completed tunneling 747 metres in nine months, a communique from the Bangalore Mtero Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) said.
With the completion of the this tunnel, the north bound line will be through from Nagasandra station in the north to Yelachenahalli station in the south in the North-South corridor, hopefully by early next year.
The Krishna TBM is an Earth Pressure Balance type machine and has done total tunneling of about 1,571 meters in the North-South corridor, the communique added.
