RSS, BJP slam Rahul for ‘U-turn’ in Supreme Court
The RSS and the BJP reacted sharply to Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s statement in the Supreme Court on Thursday where he said that he stood by every word he had said linking the RSS to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.
RSS prachar pramukh or spokesperson Manmohan Vaidya questioned what he termed Mr Gandhi’s “U-turn” on the issue. “Then why Rahul Gandhi avoided the trial for two years under one pretext or other? Is he scared to face truth? He keeps on taking U-turns,” said Mr. Vaidya.
BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said, “He has done a ‘U’ turn twice, and he will, at this rate, have to admit that he made a mistake.”
The Congress has decided to turn the defamation case filed by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) against its vice president Rahul Gandhi into a no-holds barred political and ideological battle against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the RSS.
The Congress’s communication chief, Randeep Surjewala, said, “This is Rahul Gandhi’s and the Congress’s battle against the divisive ideology of the RSS-BJP combine, that is trying to divide India on the basis of religion and caste. It will strengthen and energise all secular forces in this country.”
