Jigisha murder case: Two convicts get death sentence, 1 gets life in jail
NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Monday sentenced to death two of three men convicted for the abduction and murder of IT executive Jigisha Ghosh in 2009. The third convict was sentenced to life in jail.
On July 14, the court convicted the three men – Ravi Kapoor, Amit Shukla and Baljit Singh Malik – for among other things, murder, kidnapping and abduction leading to murder. Kapoor and Shukla were sentenced to death.
The same convicts are also facing trial for killing India Today Group journalist Soumya Vishwanathan and a taxi driver.
Jigisha, 28, who was working with Hewitt Associates Pvt Ltd as an operations manager, was kidnapped and killed on March 18, 2009, after her office cab dropped her near her home in the Vasant Vihar area of South Delhi around 4am.
Her body was found on March 20, 2009 near Surajkund in Haryana.
