Dawood to attend nephew’s wedding via Skype
MUMBAI: Underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s nephew Alishah Parkar, the youngest son of Dawood’s sister Hasina Parkar, is getting married on Wednesday. The family has made arrangements to allow Dawood and his cronies to watch the wedding from Pakistan via Skype.Sources close to the Parkars said the wedding was likely to be a grand affair since Alishah is Hasina’s only surviving son. His elder brother Danish died in a road accident in 2006.
Alishah’s sister Umaira got married in May 2015 in a ceremony kept low-key in deference to Hasina’s death the same year. The nikah will take place on Wednesday morning at Rasool mosque in south Mumbai. A lavish reception will be hosted at Juhu’s Tulip Star hotel in the evening.
Alishah is in the construction business. He is marrying Ayesha Nagani -from the Memon community -whom he has been seeing for some time, sources said.
The sources added that Dawood had asked his men in Mumbai to ensure the wedding and reception are a smooth affair. Dawood’s younger brother Iqbal Kaskar, who stays in Mumbai, has been asked to beef up his security.
He has been taking precautions since an attempt on his life in 2011 by Dawood rival Chhota Rajan’s men. The Mumbai crime branch has asked officers of the anti-extortion cell and Unit One to keep tabs on the guests and watch out for wanted Dawood aides. “We will keep a watch as there is a possibility of rival gangsters trying to disturb the peace,” said an officer.
Dawood’s brother Iqbal Kaskar and members of the Parkar family, and their sisters Zaitoon and Farzana, along with their husbands, are likely to attend the wedding.
Family sources said they had engaged bouncers from a private security firm to keep a strict vigil on who enters the venue. On the menu for the reception are Mughlai dishes like mutton kurma, chicken kebabs, rolls, chicken tawa, firni, as well as Chinese specialties and Italian seafood.
