Kalikho Pul wrote on corruption in Arunachal
Booklets titled Mere Vichaar (My Thoughts), believed to have been written by former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul, have been recovered from his residence, an official here confirmed.
Pul was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the Chief Minister’s official residence on Tuesday.
Additional District Magistrate Talo Potom, who will conduct a magisterial investigation, said four 60-page booklets typed in Hindi and signed by Mr. Pul were found. A source said they dealt with corruption in the State and mentioned some MLAs. Mr. Potom, however, refused to divulge the contents. He said he had handed them over to the police in a sealed cover. A few more items, including mobile phones and a tablet, were handed over to the police. He said no diary was seized from the bungalow.
While calls for a CBI inquiry are being made, the case has been given to sub-inspector A.K. Jha. Asked why an officer of that rank was investigating such a high-profile case, Director-General of Police S. Nithyanandam refused to comment. Principal Secretary (Home) Satya Gopal said they were yet to receive the post-mortem report and “they have not communicated with the medical board concerned”.
The State government briefly suspended mobile Internet services on Wednesday. The Home Department said there was “a likelihood of communal clashes in and around the capital complex”.
The body of Pul was flown to Pasighat, Tezu and Hawai for the people to pay their respects. The funeral will be held on Thursday at his village in Walla, Anjaw district.
