FIR filed against expelled AIADMK MP Sasikala Pushpa
NEW DELHI: Police on Wednesday filed an FIR against expelled AIADMK MP Sasikala Pushpa in Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu.
The move comes after Sasikala’s maid filed a sexual harassement complaint against her, her husband, her mother and her son. Sasikala faced a cheating complaint earlier this month, when a Tirunelveli man – S Rajesh – alleged that she had promised him contracted work in exchange for Rs. 20 lakh. Rajesh’s advocate said Sasikala had “scolded, abused, intimidated and threatened,” his client.
On August 1, Sasikala was expelled from the AIADMK by its general secretary, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa after she reportedly slapped DMK MP Trichy Siva at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. Sasikala had broken down in the Rajya Sabha just minutes before Jayalalithaa announced her ouster, and had said she was facing a “life theat” and that she was being forced to resign. Four days later, on August 5, the Delhi High Court directed police to provide security for Sasikala and for her family.
