CID sends back FSL report on alleged custodial death
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probe into the alleged custodial death of a 42-year-old domestic help in Jeevan Bima Nagar police station earlier this year is expected to be delayed as CID officials have sent back the Forensic Science Lab report seeking clarifications.
According to the officials, the CID had contacted the FSL experts for a detailed analysis on the nature of wounds. The original report said the blood clots in the body were due to severe hits, but it did not specify the nature of the beating that may have caused the injuries and the subsequent death.
Mahendra, who was the domestic help of a businessman in JB Nagar, was brought to the station in connection with a theft case. He died under mysterious circumstances on March 20.
Senior police officers who visited the station suspended the inspector and five others on the charge of dereliction of duty. The case was later handed over to CID. The autopsy report suggested that the death was due to multiple injuries.
