A grand homecoming for Mr World 2016 Rohit Khandelwal

Hundreds of cheering fans and supporters gathered at the Mumbai airport yesterday to welcome Rohit Khandelwal, who won the Mr World 2016 title this week at Southport, UK. He is the first Indian, in fact the first Asian, to do so. Walking proud and tall, he was welcomed with chants of ‘India, India!’ as college students, fans and Campus Princess contestants gathered to celebrate the moment.

After winning the Provogue Personal Care Mr India 2015, Rohit Khandelwal went on to become the first Indian to bring home the Mr World title on July 19. Yesterday, he flew back from UK and there was a grand welcome awaiting him at the airport in Mumbai. As soon he walked out, amidst all the frenzy, he was greeted with the traditional aarti and tikka on the forehead. Fans turned up with posters, placards and flowers.

Priyadarshini Chatterjee (fbb Femina Miss India World 2016), Sushruthi Krishna (fbb Femina Miss India 1st runner-up) and Pankhuri Gidwani (Miss Grand India 2016) were also a part of the revelry and cheered Rohit for his historic win. His parents Rajkumar and Sumanlata Khandelwal were also waiting anxiously with the crowd, and they were extremely emotional on seeing their son being showered with so much of love. An ecstatic Rohit said, “For me, the highlight of the pageant was meeting so many talented people from all over the world. It was a great experience. The win is just sinking in. I want to spend time with family and friends before moving on to other things.”
