Infosys techie’s ‘remark on accused’s appearance led to her murder’
Chennai: Swathi case accused P Ramkumar , who was admitted at Tirunelveli government medical college hospital, has made a preliminary confessional statement to the police that the victim had verbally abused him about his physical appearance which enraged him.
P Ramkumar, who was picked up from his house in Meenakshipuram village in Sengottai in a late night operation, attempted to end his life. He was taken to the government hospital after being given first-aid. He later underwent surgery at the hospital. After the doctors declared his condition was out of danger, a Chennai city police team produced him before judicial magistrate Ramadass and obtained a transit warrant. The team boarded him in an ambulance and bringing him via road.
Sources said that he is likely to reach Chennai early on Monday morning. He will be produced before the 14th metropolitan magistrate court in Egmore and will be remanded to judicial custody. He will be admitted to government Royapettah hospital in a separate block from where he will be shifted to Central Puzhal prison, after he recovers. A detailed confessional statement will be recorded later.
“His condition is normal and he is conversing well,” said a police source.
Ramkumar proposed to her in public several times. But Swathi ignored them and, according to Ramkumar, verbally abused him on his look, which Ramkumar couldn’t bear, said the police. Ramkumar has told the police that he moved to Chennai with the dream of making it big in Kollywood and tried his luck in the film industry.
