Naidu tears into Jagan on latter’s home turf
YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s overzealous threat to oust the State government boomeranged on him with several MLAs of his party joining the Telugu Desam Party, which was striving to develop the State, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu asserted on Wednesday.
Addressing the Maha Sankalpa Sabha at the municipal grounds here, Mr. Naidu rebutted the YSRC charge that the ruling party lured Opposition MLAs and asked why he would pay money to MLAs when the government was comfortably placed. MLAs of the YSRC approached the TDP to help them effectively serve the people. Referring to the Tuni arson, Mr. Naidu accused the Opposition leader of despatching people from Kadapa district to torch a train and spread terror during the protest for Kapu quota. Mr. Naidu termed the YSRC programme of lodging police complaints against him ‘cheap politics.’ Mr. Jagan’s view that he would succeed if the TDP government failed was absurd, he said.
