Rajasthan govt takes action against striking doctors
As the ongoing strike of the resident doctors of government hospitals crippled healthcare services in Rajasthan, the State government on Thursday terminated the services of 146 medicos and suspended 1,387 of them. The resident doctors were also asked to vacate their hostel rooms in Sawai Man Singh Medical College here within a day.
Health Minister Rajendra Rathore said the State government would approach the Supreme Court to seek permission for new admissions against the seats of terminated resident doctors, as admissions to first year of post-graduation are done under the apex court’s guidelines. Besides, the process would be initiated to fill up vacant posts of assistant professors in all medical colleges.
Resident doctors are protesting against the decision to send their answer-books to other States for evaluation.
