Former Bihar CM Jitan Manjhi’s convoy attacked in Gaya, escort vehicle set on fire
GAYA: Former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s convoy was attacked on Thursday in Dumaria in Gaya district of Bihar.
Angry protesters pelted stones at his convoy and later set his escort vehicle on fire. Two bikes of policemen were also torched.
However, the former CM escaped unhurt. Defying warnings, Manjhi, was on his way to Dumaria to condole the death of Sudesh Paswan and Sunil Paswan. The two Paswans were killed during Panchayat election campaign on Wednesday.
Police had to fire in the air to disperse the crowd. Attempts to contact Manjhi proved futile as his mobile numbers remained switched off.
However, his party’s spokesperson Danish Rizwan told that the ex CM has been escorted to safety. Gaya DM Kumar Ravi, while confirming the incident of stone pelting and arson also said that the ex-CM was safe.
