Early trends show ‘achche din’ are back for BJP
NEW DELHI: Early trends coming from all five assembly elections show that BJP has regained its winning ways.
As per latest trends, the BJP is ahead in 44 seats while Congress is leading in 22 places in Assam.
If this trend continues, the BJP looks all set to form a government for the first time in the northeast by snatching Assam from Congress, which has held office for three successive terms.
These assembly elections show that the BJP has been able to increase its footprints in all parts of the country. It is leading in 6 seats in West Bengal and is likely to get 10% votes in the state.
BJP is also all leading in 4 seats in Kerala and is ahead in one seat in Tamil Nadu.
Besides the satisfaction of wresting yet another state from Congress, a win in Assam will help the party’s effort to regain the political momentum it lost be cause of humiliations in Delhi and Bihar, and will put it in the right shape for the battles ahead, including that for the biggest electoral prize, UP.
While BJP has reasons to rejoice, the results should deepen the growing worry in Congress about the party’s future. It looks set to lose Assam and is trailing in Kerala.
