Aadhaar card scam busted
The West district police claimed to have busted a gang allegedly involved in cheating people by first submitting forged Aadhaar cards with mixed details and then selling the vehicles rented on the basis of the documents.
Dev Sehgal and Gurmeet Singh, both in their 20s and call centre employees, have been arrested, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Pushpendra Kumar.
The case came to the fore when the Uttarakhand Police approached the Delhi Police for help. “The duo had gone to Rishikesh about one month ago. There, they took two scooters by paying Rs. 700 per day to the owner. When the shop owner asked for an identity document, they provided him a fake Aadhaar card,” said Mr. Kumar. The Aadhaar card was made out of two separate cards, carefully scanned and reprinted. “It had the name and image of Dev Sehgal, whereas the parentage and address on the other side was of Gurmeet Singh,” said Mr. Kumar.
