How Bihar lawmaker led cops to ‘killer’ son’s Bodh Gaya hide out
GAYA: After hours of being pressured by the Gaya police, Bihar’s JD(U) MLC Manorma Devi finally cracked and led them to her son Rocky Yadav in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Yadav was hiding out in Mastpura village at his father Bindi Yadav’s dairy farm. He’s accused of gunning down Aditya Sachdeva, a class 12 student, on the evening of May 7.
Late on Monday evening, Special Investigation Team members led by City SP Awakash Kumar raided the AP Colony residence of the MLC and recovered several ‘objectionable items’ including many bottles of foreign liquor.
From the beginning, the police made it clear to Manorma Devi that they meant business and that they have been given a free hand by the government to do whatever is required to nab Rocky.
According to police sources, the MLC initially feigned ignorance about the whereabouts of her son. The cops then made it clear to her that they are not going to return empty handed. It was either Rocky or her because there was enough evidence of her harbouring a criminal – her son – and concealing evidence, police told her. Her husband was already in jail on the same charges.
That threat worked. As she was being worn down by the pressure, the MLC apparently consulted her well wishers and lawyers who advised against prolonging the drama. They told her that Rocky would ultimately have to submit himself to the law of the land and any delay will go against him and get the family in more trouble.
A similar fate awaited her too, the lawyers are learnt to have told Manorma. Manorma, is said to be related to Rajballabh, as her sister is married to Rajballabh’s brother. Raj Ballabh Yadav, the RJD MLA is currently in jail on rape charges.
Manorma ultimately yielded. She quietly got into a black Santro a little after two am on Tuesday. The cops, who left her house earlier, met her midway. She lead them to Mastpura village from where Rocky was arrested.
Without giving details, Gaya SSP Garima Malik told media persons that a Beretta pistol, a foreign made weapon along with its magazine – the weapon used in the crime – was found in Rocky’s possession. Rocky will have a speedy trial, said the SSP.
