Two days after Karnataka’s Minister of State for Labour P T Parameshwar Naik was caught on camera making claims that he got a senior police officer transferred, as she did not answer his phone calls, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has reportedly sought a report from Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on the matter.
“This is not a good development. I will seek an explanation from him (Naik) on the matter. I spoke to him over the phone. He has agreed to meet and explain to me the turn of events,” said Karnataka’s Home Minister G. Parameshwara, who also happens to be the President of the KPCC.
He ruled out initiating disciplinary action against the minister concerned. This incident could be a setback for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, as Naik is his close aide.
Meanwhile, Parameshwara clarified that the officer concerned Dy SP Anupama Shenoy was sent on an official work to a different district and that she wasn’t transferred, as claimed by the minister. The police top brass was upset after they learnt that the Labour minister, who is also the in-charge minister of Ballari district, sought a transfer of Shenoy, the Kudligi Dy SP after she failed to answer his calls.
