AAP-BJP clash over MLA OP Sharma’s ‘bazaaru mahila’ remark on Alka Lamba
AAP workers are really angry about what OP Sharma said in Assembly yesterday. BJP MLA Sharma had called AAP MLA Alka Lamba things like baazaaru aurat and somebody who roams around all night. Angry AAP guys went over to Sharma’s house in Vishwas Nagar and began chanting slogans.
Police had to put barricades outside Sharma’s house as clashes broke out between AAP and BJP workers in Vishwas Nagar area. Members of AAP women wing reached Sharma’s house the morning and started shouting slogans demanding immediate action against the Vishwas Nagar MLA. Soon, members of the BJP’s women wing arrived on the spot resulting in a clash between the two sides.
Talking to India Today, OP Sharma, however, rejected charges against him, saying he never used bad language against AAP’s woman MLA.
“I never abused Alka Lamba. AAP is free to file an FIR against me. Indfact, it was Lamba who tried to slap me and abused me. CCTV footage will reveal the truth,” Sharma said.
Talking to reporters during press conference, Lamba said, “OP Sharma used unparliamentary language against me. He called me bazaaru mahila.”
Delhi Assembly Deputy Speaker Vandana Jha said,”I appeal to BJP to take strict action OP Sharma. It is people like OP Sharma who give politics a bad name.”
Sharma was suspended from the Delhi Assembly for two days for using derogatory language against Chandni Chowk MLA Lamba during a discussion on night shelters.
Sharma was suspended till Thursday by Speaker Ram Niwas Goel even as AAP’s women legislators demanded his suspension for the complete winter session.
Shouting slogans, AAP’s women MLAs also demanded an apology from Sharma or leader of the Opposition Vijender Gupta over the comments, threatening that they would not come to the House if their demands were not met.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was shocked over the comments and said the BJP should take action against Sharma.
“Am shocked at language used by O P Sharma, BJP MLA, against a lady MLA. Two days back also, he abused a lady MLA. Hope BJP will act against him,” Kejriwal tweeted.
