Police arrests Munnabhai MBBS actor Vishal Thakkar on charges of raping TV actress
Mumbai, Oct 20: Police on Monday arrested Bollywood actor Vishal Thakkar for allegedly raping a 26 year-old television actress.
Popularly known for his role in Munnabhai MBBS, Thakkar was booked under under IPC sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating), 323, 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
Earlier, the victim had alleged that the accused raped her in his house. In police complaint , the actress, who had worked in several TV serials said that actor used to beat her badly over petty issues.
“We both are close friend and were also in a live in relationship from last few months. Thakkar sexually assaulted me several times making false promises to marry me. However, I left his house after unable to take the ordeal and insult he did on me increased”, victim said to police.
Apart from Munnabhai MBBS, Thakkar has also done small roles in movies like Tango Charlie and Chandni Bar.
