Police identify men involved in 12L robbery
COIMBATORE: The district police have identified the three men involved in Karamadai robbery in which they snatched away Rs12 lakh from a farmer outside a nationalized bank. They said that two teams have been sent to Salem and Dindigul to nab the culprits. They are, however, apprehensive about revealing the names and other details as they feel it would hinder their investigation.
On August 25 three men, who came on a motor-cycle, snatched away Rs12 lakh from K Samuel, a farmer and realtor who was getting into his car parked 150 metres from the Indian Bank branch. The robbery occured around 10 am in broad day light near a bus stop.
Top police officials confirmed that the culprits had been identified and their photos circulated. They also said that these three were involved in several such robberies and thefts in Dindigul and other parts of the state. “We have taken CCTV camera footages that were recorded outside and inside the bank and sent them to various districts. We got information that they were native of Dindigul and were also involved in several criminal cases there,” said a police official who did not want to be named.
The police official added that on the day of crime, of the three men, one of them was spotted inside the bank noticing people who were withdrawing money from the cash counter. “As soon as he noticed K Samuel, 51, withdrawing several lakhs of rupees, he left the bank immediately. Later the same person could be seen on the bike as well,” said the police official.
