Goa govt took loans worth 674 crore from NABARD
PANAJI: The government of Goa has taken loans worth 674.61 crore for the implementation and completion of 192 projects in the state from the National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund, NABARD said in its state focus paper for 2015-16.
NABARD had sanctioned a total of 1105.26 crore for the current financial year—which ends in March—for infrastructure projects undertaken by the public works department, Goa state infrastructure development corporation, water resources department, women & child welfare department etc.
Out of the 192 projects, the government had completed 155 projects while 24 projects were still under way in various parts of the state. However, 13 projects were also cancelled.
The largest loan disbursed was spent on agriculture and allied sector projects with a total of 367.46 crore being availed of by the government against a sanctioned amount of 425.48 crore. Projects for building rural roads and bridges availed loans worth 252.26 crores against a sanctioned amount of 447.59 crore.
