Houses of Punjabi stars raided; Rs 80 lakh seized
LUDHIANA: Income tax sleuths recovered over Rs 80 lakh of unaccounted money during raids conducted on the premises of some prominent people from the Punjab entertainment industry in Ludhiana, Rajpura, Jalandhar and Mohali. They include Daljeet Dosanjh, Miss Pooja and Gippy Grewal among others.
According to well placed sources in the income tax department, more than 100 income tax sleuths from various districts in the state including Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Patiala and Ambala were involved in these raids that were carried out in over 15 premises of people related to the Punjabi entertainment industry.
These teams raided the house of singer-turned-actor Daljit Dosanjh who was the hero of “Carry on Jatta” and the producer of the movie, Darshan Singh Grewal, at their houses in Dugri Phase-II and Barewal Road respectively. This movie had broken box office records in Punjabi cinema and brought great success to Dosanjh as
an actor.
Raids were also carried out in the houses of Punjabi singer-turned-actress Miss Pooja — who had recently rendered a song for the Bollywood flick, “Cocktail” — at Rajpura, Gippy Grewal, another singer-turned-actor at Mohali and the offices of Batra Films, besides Speed Records and Speed Films in Jalandhar.
Twelve to fifteen bank lockers of these people were also sealed by the raiding teams who have recovered unaccounted money of over Rs 80 lakh from the raided premises.
