CWG scam: CBI raids BJP leader Sudhanshu Mittal’s house
NEW DELHI: The 2010 Commonwealth Games scam grew murkier as the Income Tax Department and the CBI raided around 25 premises on Tuesday. BJP leader and industrialist Sudhanshu Mittal and his nephew Vinay Mittal’s houses were raided by the CBI in connection with awarding of contracts for the CWG.
Both, Sudhanshu and Vinay Mittal, are connected with Deepali consortium, supplier of sports equipment, which was awarded the contract for 2010 CWG.
According to sources, some contractors, who supplied treadmills for the CWG, were observed over-and-under invoicing, which raised doubts among I-T officials. It was revealed that one of the contractors was closely related to Sudhanshu Mittal.
The raid comes even as BJP chief Nitin Gadkari threatened to reveal evidence against the government and the PMO in the ongoing Commonwealth Games scam.
Gadkari is due to address the media today, where he will spell out his party’s stand on the ongoing CWG investigations. The party has indicated that it has major evidence to indict the Centre in various scams in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games.
There was also a raid at CWG Organizing Committee member Harish Sharma’s house.
