Emaar-MGF scam mother of all scandals: TDP leader
Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and Nagari MLA G. Muddukrishnama Naidu has described the Rs.12,000-cr. Emaar-MGF Properties scandal as the mother of all scams which the independent India had ever witnessed and said that viewed against the enormity of the scam, the Rs.67 crore Bofors scam which unfortunately made the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi lose his post.
Talking to mediapersons here the TDP leader charged that the way the Chief Minister K. Rosaiah was trying to soft-pedal the multi crore scam despite the fact that more than half a dozen government agencies including the Solicitor General of India had confirmed the alleged ‘fraud’ played by the company, lent credence to the allegations that the delay tactics being played by the Rosaiah government in taking ‘direct action’ against the Emaar Properties was because of the ‘high stakes’ involved for Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Deekshit, Union Minister Jaipal Reddy and IOA leader Suresh Kalmadi in the case. To drive home his point Naidu sought to explain as how it was again Emaar-MGF which was allegedly behind the controversial execution of the Common Wealth Games village which resulted in ‘fiasco and national shame’ in the wake of its ‘sub-standard’ works. It was in this connection that Muddukrishnama Naidu said that if the Rosaiah government was to come clean on the allegations, it should immediately cancel the licence given to the Emaar-MGF Properties, confiscate all their properties, order and enquiry by CBI as well as a sitting Supreme Court judge.
