Elementary Principal Arrested on Suspicion of Sexual Assault
A northeast Kansas elementary school principal is arrested on suspicion of molesting a fourth-grade boy in Nebraska eleven years ago.
Scott Habegger, 33, is in his second year as principal at Prairie Center Elementary School in Olathe. He was refusing extradition to Nebraska and remains held in Johnson County.
Habegger was placed on administrative leave following his arrest Thursday. Olathe school district officials issued a statement saying they were unaware of any allegations against him in Kansas.
The Nebraska case alleges that Habegger sexually assaulted a ten-year-old boy about 30 times in Lincoln after meeting him while student-teaching in the spring of 1995. Lancaster County authorities say the alleged victim, now 21, came forward in January.
