‘More services will be in tax net’
NEW DELHI: FM P Chidambaram on Thursday said government intended to levy service tax on a few more services from the next financial year but ruled out the possibility of differential service tax rates.
“Year after year, we have added new services. We will add a few more services this year,” he told a private news channel in an interview. he also ruled out removal of the fringe benefit tax, which was put in place in the last Budget. He had said that government was open to simplifying FBT rules.
The FM said government was also planning to introduce a new Income Tax Bill during the Budget session of Parliament that starts at the end of February.
