Bharat Forge to set up new plant
NEW DELHI: Auto component maker Bharat Forge would invest over Rs 400 crore to set up a greenfield facility in India, besides establishing development centres in four overseas locations – including America and China – for product design and development.
Speaking at the ongoing Auto Expo, Bharat Forge executive director Amit B Kalyani said: “Bharat Forge would go in for a greenfield facility after the completion of its expansion plans by March 2006. Investment of Rs 400 crore is in the pipeline for the greenfield facility.”
The company has already invested Rs 600 crore at its Pune unit to double the forging capacity to 2.5 lakh tonnes from the existing 1.2 lakh tonnes. The expanded capacity is scheduled to be commissioned by March 2006.
“We are doubling of capacity to keep pace with the demand from gobal customers,” Bharat Forge chairman Baba Kalyani said.
The company is planning to set up development centres in Germany, Sweden, North America and China, on the lines of its Indian development centres.
