Tata, Fiat to unveil joint plans
NEW DELHI: The Tata-Fiat combine seems all set to invade the Indian car bazaar. The Tata group flagship firm Tata Motors is planning to unveil the future roadmap for the alliance along with the new passenger cars that would be built jointly with the Italian car maker, at Auto Expo 2006.
Tata Motors had, in September 2005, announced its tie-up with Fiat SpA to explore the option of jointly developing and manufacturing passenger vehicles for India and overseas markets.
“The feasibility study has been completed and the Tata-Fiat combine is now close to inking an alliance to jointly develop cars. The firm will take the covers off their joint product development plans at the Auto Expo,”a source close to the deal told ToI.
