LMC in high spirits over tax collection
LUCKNOW: The soaring house tax collections to the tune of Rs 2.75 crores in the month of December, has raised the spirits of Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC), which has now announced extending the 5 percent rebate on house tax by a week.
Until now, the rebate used to end on December 31. But following the apparently acclaimed results the rebate will now end on January 7.
According to additional municipal commissioner AC Sinha the municipal body on Saturday collected around Rs 83 lakh. This, said Sinha, was unprecedented in the history of LMC.
He added that the tax collections for the year 2005-06 in the third quarterly is already up by more than Rs 5 crores in comparison to the tax collected in the financial year 2004-05.
